What Is ManaSport?
The ManaSport is a FDA-approved portable ultrasound therapy unit that reduces the pain associated with tendon, ligament or muscle injuries by using ultrasound waves. Using ultrasound therapy is one of the most common treatments used in the management of soft tissue or sports-related injuries.
ManaSport provides ultrasound waves that penetrate into the tissue. This increases circulation, oxygen and nutrient delivery, and the removal of waste products from the site of a musculoskeletal injury.
The portable ultrasound unit makes it easy to use, especially when on the go. ManaSport allows the patient to self-administer ultrasound therapy anytime throughout their busy day – saving time for both the health care provider and the patient.
It is recommended that patients begin wearing the ultrasound unit for 20 minutes daily.
Who is Affected?
ManaSport is most commonly prescribed for those with acute and chronic tendinopathies; muscle strain or spasms; or pain associated with osteoarthritis of the knee. It can be used to treat injured sites throughout the body such as the tendons of the elbow, Achilles, patella, shoulder and bicep; and muscles including the trapezius, hamstring, and quadriceps.
Among athletes, tendon and muscle injuries account for 40%-60% of sports-related injuries. When tendons are injured, irritation and inflammation of the tendon may result causing tendinitis or tendinosis. Among athletes, these injuries are commonly referred to as swimmer’s shoulder, golfer’s or tennis elbow, jumper’s or runner’s knee, and pitcher’s shoulder.
Using the ManaSport portable ultrasound unit, you’ll receive an effective and speedy recovery, whether you’re an athlete or just suffering from acute muscle pain.
Typical Applications
ManaSport can be used to treat injured sites throughout the body including elbow, Achilles, patella, shoulder and bicep tendons, as well as trapezius, hamstring, and quadriceps muscles.
ManaSport is a prescription device covered by most professional sports, worker’s compensation and collegiate insurance companies indicated for the treatment of muscle pain, muscle spasms, joint contractures, and the increase of local circulation. It is most commonly prescribed for tendinopathies, muscle strain, spasms and bruises, shoulder injuries and osteoarthritis pain of the knee.
Reducing muscle pain is easy with ManaSport, as it can deliver ultrasound waves whether on the go or in the comfort of your own home.

Benefits of ManaSport
Forget what you know about ultrasound therapy!
Unlike traditional, in-office ultrasound and other treatment modalities, the ManaSport+ portable ultrasound unit delivers sustained acoustic medicine – a self-applied bioregenerative therapy that can be used daily.
The benefits to ultrasound therapy are listed below.

How Does It Work?
ManaSport stimulates the body’s natural repair process through the sustained delivery of low intensity ultrasound waves.
The ManaSport+ system in a carrying case consists of one ManaSport+
device and the following biocompatible components/accessories.
1) Transducer applicator connected to the ManaSport+ device to generate a low-intensity
ultrasound or stimulation signal at the treatment site.
2) Coupling gel applied to the transducer applicator to transmit the ultrasound signal
to the depth of the treatment site.
3) Strap with a cap to hold the transducer applicator down on the treatment site.
4) Battery charger/adapter to charge the subject device.
5) Sticker Patch to hold the transducer applicator down on the treatment site.Watch this video to learn more about how ManaSport’s ultrasound waves deliver sustained action for a faster recovery.

The ManaSport+ provides non-invasive therapy of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound for the treatment of selected medical conditions such as soft tissue
injuries, shortened tendons due to past injuries and scar tissues, relief of pain, muscle spasms and joint contractures. ManaSport+ transmits a low-intensity
ultrasound signal to the patient’s treatment site through ultrasound gel. The patient will experience little or no sensation while in ultrasound mode.Apply stationary use of ultrasound to:
Generate deep heat within body tissues for the treatment of selected medical conditions such as the relief of pain, the relief of muscle spasms,
the treatment of joint contractures, and the local increase in circulation.
Apply continuous movement of ultrasound for:
1. Pain.
2. Pain relief, muscle spasms, and joint contractures.
3. Relief of pain, muscle spasms, and joint contractures that may be associated with:
Adhesive Capsulitis
Burisitis with significant calcification
Myositis
Soft Tissue Injuries
Shortened tendons due to past injuries and scar tissue
4. Relief of pain, muscle spasms, and joint contractures resulting from:
Capsular Tightness, and
Capsular scarring
5. Localized increase in blood flow.
6. Increased range of motion of contracted joint using heat and stretch techniques.Traditional therapeutic ultrasound requires active administration by a trained professional using benchtop or cart-mounted equipment, thereby limiting treatments to only a few times per week for 15 minutes or less. Research has shown that given correct dosing, which includes treatment frequency, intensity and duration, ultrasound is effective in treating soft tissue injuries. Until now, therapeutic ultrasound treatments have been limited to the amount of time a trained professional actively applies therapy. ManaSport allows the patient to self-administer the therapy anytime throughout their busy day – saving time for both the health care provider and the patient.
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, otherwise known as TENS, uses electrical currents to control pain by stimulating nerves and blocking the pain signals that would otherwise be sent to the brain. While TENS and ManaSport have proven successful in clinical studies for relieving pain, only ultrasonic energy aids in the recovery process by increasing circulation, and accelerating the natural healing cascades through mechanical stimulation.
ManaSport+ should be used for 20 minutes per day or as prescribed by your doctor. The
ultrasound will be automatically stopped after the maximum timer of 20 minutes runs out. It is very
important to follow your physician/doctor’s protocol to get the full medical benefit of the
treatment. If you have concerns about your treatment, please contact your doctor directly. The
device is a single patient reusable device. This device is prescription only and may not be used
without a physician’s order.
